Update 2 - 4 More Goals Down! Free Dice! Legends of Avantris!
about 2 months ago – Thu, Sep 17, 2026 at 02:22:41 PM

What in the actual glazed lotus eater roots! $1.5 MILLION!? Are y’all crazy? Y’all are crazy…

We’re gonna recap the stretch goals we hit, talk about Legends of Avantris (errmahgerd they did a live play of Wild Hearth!), and talk about the free Alchemist Trove dice!

Stretch Goals Galore!

Since the last update we have hit 4 more stretch goals!

Here’s what y’all are getting:

  • $800k - TWICE as many maps. They’re getting printed double sided and the reverse will have a variant in a totally different theme!
  • Pie in the Sky #1 - $1m - Original Soundtrack! Artisan, who did the intro anime video music track, will be leading the charge on a bunch more tracks to provide the backing to exploration, city shopping, boss battles and more. This is one of the big goals I’ve been excited about for a while and is being given to everyone who gets either the RfH or BfA PDF for FREE!
  • $1.25m - Even More Monster Meals (& Cards!) If you watch Legends of Avantris, you’ll know that you can make meals from any monsters. But some monsters have special recipes to create Monster Meals with special effects. We’ll be making 10 more of those to go in A Recipe for Heroes, which means 10 more cards in the card pack too!
  • $1.5m - Acrylic Standees. With all this GORGEOUS monster art I thought it would be cool to make double-sided standees so y’all can play on your home tables. That’s enough standees to have one for every monster in every adventure in A Blueprint for Adventure. It’s available as an add-on and is included in the Deluxe+ tiers.

Next Goal

Our next ‘normal’ goal is a new town origin: Eerie Estates. Think the gothic architecture of Bloodborne meets the goth aesthetics of the Addams Family!

Concept art for eerie estates!

Questions for you all: What do you think of the town origins? Are you excited for town building? We’ll do a deeper dive on it down the line.

Pie in the Sky #2 - Fishing! Okay this was something we ideated putting in the book for a long time but ultimately decided we could only achieve if the campaign did really well, as it’s a lot more writing. If we can get to $2 million — which would be INSANE — I’ll write a mini-game/skill challenge for fishing and a selection of fish unique to each biome, each with unique magical effects when added to monster meals. Did being pescatarian just become cool? It did. I live by the sea.

Legends of Avantris

Did you see?? LoA did a playthrough of a cooking trial adventure! First off—don’t worry about spoilers. While the Lotus Eater will appear in the book, this adventure was written exclusively for the Avantris team, you can definitely watch it without fear of ruining your own fun. My favourite part was the extreme authenticity with which their french rivals, The Pierres, were depicted. Check it out:

Cooking Trial

This playthrough is an example of one of the cooking trial adventures you’ll find in A Blueprint for Adventure. You are pitted against a rival team (like Gary from Pokemon or, in LoA’s case, the Pierres) in front of a live studio audience. Normal trials will involve researching the judge yourself, but for the play through, the party had already hired a private investigator to do some digging.

Candied Lotus Eater on the left, but what could that be on the right?

Phases. The trial has three phases: preparation, elaboration, and presentation. Preparation is a monster hunt: you’re teleported to *near* the monster and must find and slay it within time. Then it's all about making that perfect slice of the monster before its magic dissipates!

In the elaboration phase, you cook the dish. The players narrate their actions from which the GM might decrease/increase the DC based on the roleplay elements. Then the party performs series of ability checks that earn you different numbers of points based on result of the check.

In the presentation phase, you give your dish to the judge, accompanying it with the story (or interpretive dance) of how it was made, gaining or losing points depending on the judge’s predilections (and the quality of your research!).

Free Alchemist Trove Dice

We’ve had a lot of questions about this! During the live play it was mentioned many times that the free dice were available to anyone who backed in the first 72 hours! Given that the VoD just got released today, we’re extending that deadline to allow Avantris’ fans who might not have seen the video yet to get the freebies. The new deadline is 23:59 PST Sunday 20th September.

Can you tell which creature types were used in the creation of which potion?

Here are the steps for getting the free dice:

  • (1) Back before 23:59 Sunday 20th September.
  • (2) Have at least ONE physical item in your basket when the campaign ends on Monday 19th of October.
  • (3) ~2 weeks after the campaign ends (~November 2rd), when completing your questionnaire on Backerkit, select “Yes I want to receive the free Alchemist Trove dice”.

Note: You do not need to add these to your Kickstarter basket and there is no indication on Kickstarter itself whether you are fulfilling these criteria. It’s something we have to manually add later. If you don’t see them in your Backerkit basket in November, then reach out to us on Loot Tavern’s Discord server or [email protected].

Launched! SIX Stretch Goals Unlocked! What's in Which Book?
about 2 months ago – Tue, Sep 15, 2026 at 01:59:04 PM

3, 2, 1, launch!... What? Wait… why is the launch button still greyed out!? Okay, turn it off and on again. And Lau- Omg that’s so many stretch goals.

Yes, babies, rabies, and gentlefolk we had a bug at launch (the computer kind, not the eating-undercooked-kraken-steak kind) and had to get the Kickstarter team involved to work out why we couldn’t press go. Big thanks to Asher and the Trust & Safety team for sorting that out for us ASAP!

Stretch Goals

What in the absolute aboleth soufflé! We’ve destroyed SIX stretch goals! Here’s a recap of what’s been achieved.

Every tier is now even better value!

That means:

  • A Recipe for Heroes gets two new Necromancer subclasses: Homunculist and Grim Knight (we’ll dive into those in a later update).
  • The Game Ready+ tiers get more GM cheat sheets (which are included in the addon, too!).
  • The Core+ tiers get a whole bunch of adventure handouts to go along with the Cakewalk adventures.
  • The Core+ tiers get stickers added to every town origin (included in addons).
  • Sylvan Settlements town origin has been unlocked. This is included in the All-in tier and is an option the Core and Deluxe tiers can pick from. Digital papercraft version included in Digital Deluxe and All-in tiers!

Next Goal

This also means we’re only $30k from DOUBLING the number of maps in the map pack, and three-quarters of the way to our first Pie in the Sky stretch goal: an Original Soundtrack!

We’ll print the maps double-sided, with a variant version on the reverse

You heard the beautiful music Artisan crafted for the anime video. Now imagine that he did different ones for combat, exploration, spooky dungeons, downtime at the inn… you get it! Another sense with which to immerse your players.

Wild Hearth - Which Book is Which

Okay, the TL;DR is that A Recipe for Heroes has info for both players and GMs, while A Blueprint for Adventure is almost exclusively GM-facing. Here’s a more detailed breakdown

Wild Hearth: A Recipe for Heroes (a.k.a. RfH):

  • Races
  • Backgrounds
  • Feats
  • Necromancer Class
  • Subclasses
  • Cooking Rules
  • Farming System
  • Magic Items
  • Spells

Wild Hearth: A Blueprint for Adventure (a.k.a. BfA):

  • Exploration Rules
  • Town Building
  • Cooking Lite
  • ~Eight Adventures
  • More Magic Items
  • More Spells
  • Bestiary

As always, our goal is to make the best product possible, and this book loadout may change (that’s why our PDF and Dual Book tiers include both books!). We’ll be playtesting everything thoroughly and may change what is in which book in order to fulfil that goal. We’ll keep you informed of changes every step of the way.

Project We Love - Treacherous Traps 2

Pointy Hat likes to encourage all human familiars to write RPG books, and those at Nord Games have been busy creating a bunch of traps with which to populate your dungeon, before you cook up the monsters! From 250+ pre-made simple and complex traps, to a random trap generator, and even puzzles and riddles. This is a great additional to any GM’s arsenal! Check out their KS below, it has just over a week left!

Check it out!

Questions? Suggestions? Messages of Adulation?

For ALL your Wild Hearth needs, Loot Tavern has a Discord server. In there you’ll find dedicated Wild Hearth channels for general chat (#wh-general), playtest discussion (#wh-playtest-discussion), and for questions you may have about the Kickstarter (#wh-ks-questions). Moreover, if and when you have issues that need greater support, you can submit #support requests within the Discord server.

Don’t be intimidated if you’re not a Discord user. Everyone is super friendly and can help you find your way around. For other support routes, you can submit comments in the comment section, or messages direct to the Pointy Hat kickstarter account. But for real, for quickest responses, use Discord!

Look at all these goodies!

That’s all for now! We’ll be back with another update after my familiar gets some shut eye.

Thanks,

Pointy Hat and the Loot Tavern Team.
